This is a 30 second frame-by-frame animated book trailer pitched to author Meg Rosoff and Bloomsbury. A family’s annual beach summer holiday is sabotaged by the arrival of Kit and Hugo Godden and consequent tension-filled relationships. This one dreamy summer changes everything.
This concept focuses on shots of scenes from the book which preserve the ambiguous identity of the narrator through colour pencil sketches. Shots of ‘dreamy summer’ are interrupted by fast-paced ‘tension’ shots, at the turning point of a foot stepping into cold ocean water, as a metaphor for misleading appearances.
